Chris Corpuz, CSRS, CSCS - Lead
Chris has been with Project Walk for 2 years. Starting as an assistant and then becoming a CSRS. He graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in kinesiology emphasis in pre-physical therapy. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist through the NSCA. He also has prior experience with adaptive exercise for special populations. I am hoping to help Project Walk grow into the one of the best SCI recovery centers offered.

Margarita Garalyte, CSRS - Lead
Margarita graduated from the Lithuanian Institute of Physical Education in Kaunas, Lithuania with a BS in Kinesiotherapy. She then completed her internship and worked at Palanga Rehabilitation Hospital in Lithuania. Margarita joined the Project Walk team in October 2003.

Lisa Rivera – Lead
Lisa is a graduate of San Diego State University with a B.S. in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Fitness, Nutrition and Health. She is certified as a Fitness Specialist through Mesa College and is an A.C.E. Certified Personal Trainer. She has seven years of training experience with a variety of populations including senior fitness, group cycling and marathon coaching. Lisa spends a great deal of time outdoors running, mountain bike riding, and playing softball.

Jason Smith, CSCS– Lead
Jason graduated from California State University of Long Beach with a degree in Kinesiology. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He was a personal trainer for many years, but found himself wanting more out of a career in the fitness industry. That desire led him to Project Walk. He considers himself very fortunate to be a part of this amazing place and wonderful people.

Briana Wasch, CSRS - Lead
Bri graduated from Scripps College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Biology. She then completed an internship at ADAPT training facility in Portland, OR, becoming certified in the ADAPT training philosophy. She gained experience there as a personal trainer and athletic conditioning class instructor. Bri began working at Project Walk in February of 2005 and is currently working toward the Level 1 certification.

Kimberly Davis, CSRS
Kimberly began her career with Project Walk in 2005. She is a graduate of San Diego State University with a B.S. in Kinesiology with a Fitness, Nutrition, and Health emphasis. She has a background in soccer, having played most of her life including one season at Humboldt State University. Kimberly’s exercise physiology career began as a soccer coach, and she likes to bring an athletic approach to her Spinal Cord Injury Recovery methods.

Jeremy Sontag, CSRS
Jeremy recently relocated to San Diego from the Pacific Northwest where he graduated with a degree in Exercise Science from Seattle Pacific University. He has several years of personal training experience with corporate health clubs and independent specialized training studios and a vast knowledge of nutrition and exercise prescription. While in the Northwest Jeremy interned at the Washington Institute of Sports Medicine and Stevens Hospital in the cardiac rehabilitation and diabetes clinic.

Jason Weil, CSRS
Jason is a motivated exercise science professional who has been active all his life. He has a B.S. in Applied Exercise Science from Springfield College and is a certified Health Fitness Instructor through the American College of Sports Medicine. Jason has over six years of personal training experience on both the East and West Coast ranging from physical rehabilitation to training professional athletes. Jason specializes in holistic training emphasizing breathing, relaxation, correct posture, and a smile on your face. Jason loves the outdoors, martial arts, and meditation.

Apprentice

Joey Hansen – Apprentice
Joey recently relocated to the San Diego area from Iowa where he was born and raised. He graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Exercise Science. He has several years of personal training experience and looks forward to working hard towards his Level 1 Certification at Project Walk.

Brian Malkinson – Apprentice
Brian graduated from California State University, Chico with a degree in Physical Education and a double minor in exercise science and coaching. Having played high school and collegiate baseball, Brian found himself leaning towards a career path in helping others teach athletics and physical education in the public school systems. While earning his M.A. in Kinesiology from CSU, Chico, Brian taught teacher education courses at the college and held the title as Senior Editor of the non-profit organization CASPER (Center for Advancement of Standards-based Physical Education Reform.) Since relocating from Sacramento with his wife, Brian feels very fortunate to have joined the Project Walk team and is looking forward to earning his Level 1 Certification.

Kirk Morris – Apprentice
Kirk recently moved to America from England, where he graduated from Coventry University with a BSc (Hons) Sport Science degree He is currently certified with the NSCA as a Personal Trainer and has two years experience as a Personal Trainer and as a Sports Coach working with various fitness levels and ages. He enjoys general fitness training and soccer and is looking forward to working hard and gaining his level 1 certification here at Project Walk.

Michelle Ramos – Apprentice
Michelle graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in Kinesiology with emphasis in Fitness, Nutrition, and Health. She is certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine as a Personal Trainer. She has experience working in the fitness industry and continues personal training for people of various fitness levels. In addition, she has previous adaptive fitness experience working with special population groups such as diabetes, multiple sclerosis, and stroke recovery patients. She is excited to be a part of Project Walk and enjoys being in a learning environment.

Dave Sabo – Apprentice
Dave began his college career in the Fire Technology program at El Camino College. He was a kinesiology major with an emphasis in clinical exercise at Cal State Fullerton. Dave is a certified Emergency Medical Technician, and has also worked as a manager and personal trainer for different health clubs in Southern California. Before coming to Project Walk, Dave worked as a technician in an outpatient physical therapy facility.

Chad Steed –Apprentice
Chad was introduced to Project Walk in December of 2004 when he and his wife visited the center. Chad and his wife then relocated from Texas, so his wife could at Project Walk. Chad began working as a specialist assistant in the summer of 2006. He became an ACE certified personal trainer in January of 2008 and is now working as an apprentice at Project Walk. He is very enthusiastic about making a difference in the lives of people who are committed to recovery.
