We met Natalie and her parents during their first visit to Project Walk when Natalie was right out of the hospital after suffering a C6 spinal cord injury. The family was equipped with very little information or direction regarding Natalie’s future and were looking for something to help her. They heard about the success at Project Walk and came to visit. Natalie was three months post injury and still wearing her neck brace. She was fragile and scared but I saw determination. Then she told me she could control movement in one of her toes! In our experiences, the ability to wiggle a toe changes everything. Those who have participated in our program and were able to wiggle a toe all improved enough to take steps and most have gone on to functional walking. One of the great things about Project Walk is that the true experts, our clients, show the new clients the road to recovery. On Natalie’s first day she was welcomed and encouraged by a number of clients who are now mobile with the common bond of wiggling a toe. Today, almost 15 months in our program, Natalie can move her legs, stand, and has started taking steps! Our program is founded on diligently striving to reach each person’s unanswered potential; with our extensive experience, knowledge, and skills, The Dardzinski Method™ is capable of doing just that. Project Walk is the pioneer program that began the full shift towards activity based recovery. Natalie’s success is just another example of the success of our program. We all celebrate Natalie’s triumph at taking steps and she is very determined to take her victory further. It is a pleasure to work with her and we all look forward to the day she lifts her wheelchair over her head and walks out the front door. Great job Nat! Ted Dardzinski, |
