A spinal cord injury destroys lives.
It leaves people physically damaged and without hope. Eventually, many find themselves emotionally ruined, with broken minds and shattered spirits. In a split second, this traumatic injury forever changes the course of a normal life, instantaneously sweeping away dreams and futures. It happens at the hands of a drunk driver, in the midst of a gang shooting, in a freak accident at work, or while taking part in sports. And it can happen to anybody, without regard for race, gender, age or economic status. In the seconds prior to a spinal cord injury, these people could walk, feed themselves, go to the bathroom, control their body temperature and feel pleasure. Suddenly, the most basic functions are gone. Now they can’t eat on their own and must depend on someone else to help them go to the bathroom. The dynamics of normal living are gone without any hope of ever regaining them. No one is ever prepared for the road ahead.
Through the dedication of the staff and the support of donors, Project Walk helps people with spinal cord injuries regain the independence, hope, and dreams that were lost as a result of this devastating reality. Every day the clients continue to prove that a spinal cord injury does not always mean life in a wheelchair and that recovery is possible.

General Donation
A general donation to Project Walk will help the overall betterment of the program. General donations are used towards a vast array of needs and include but are not limited to, client outreach, training and education of specialists, and purchasing new and necessary equipment.
Client Assistance Fund
The journey to recovery is a long and expensive endeavor. Spinal Cord Injury Recovery is not a field that health insurance companies support so the financial burden falls upon the clients and their families. There is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing a client leave the program before achieving their goals due solely to financial limitations; or seeing someone with great potential for recovery but who has no financial means to enter the program. Your donation will provide financial assistance to underprivileged clients.
Children with SCI
A spinal cord injury is devastating but when it happens to a child, the already catastrophic injury becomes even more tragic. They don’t understand the enormity of their injury or the impact it will have on the rest of their life. The true tragedy occurs when the children and their families are given no hope, encouragement, or chance for recovery. Your donation will help give a child hope for a better future and a chance at a lifetime beyond a wheelchair.
